  Hidin' On the Back Porch

I told a lie I called in sick
But my boss man's suspicious
I'm getting' in thick
He's got people lookin' for me
People searchin' near and far
And I'm hidin' on the back porch
Playin' my guitar

Mr. Bossman I can't hear ya above my guitar scream
But you can leave a message on my answerin' machine
I know you're lookin' for me
You've been searchin' near and far
I've been hidin' on the back porch
Playin' my guitar

I hear a car pull in my drive
I put my guitar down and run inside
I hear a knock and the bossman shout
I put a dirty old shirt on inside out
I mess my hair and unmake my bed
I rub my eyes real hard so they'll look red
I throw some wadded up Kleenex on the floor
People I look like death warmed over when I open up that door
Gotta open up that door

He's been lookin' for me
He's been searchin' near and far
And I've been hidin' on the back porch
Playin' my guitar

He sniffed around
He read me like a book
Now Mr. Bossman's gone and I'm off the hook
No more people lookin' for me
People searchin' near and far
And I'm still hidin' on the back porch
Playin' my guitar
