  Bonafide Blues Guitar

Way down south where the gators roam
Through the cypress swamp past the old folks home
There's a little wood shack with a rusty gate
Where the boys play music till real, real late
Bonafide Blues Guitar

Azaleas blooming in the yard across
Big oak trees with the Spanish moss
Six strings pulled across a hunk of wood
In the right hands son, it sure sounds good
Bonafide blues guitar

Used to be a man could make a buck
At the old road house playin' this stuff
But nowadays folks seem to just stand pat
When the time comes round to pass the hat

There's a warm breeze blowin' through the long leaf pine
Mockingbird singin' on the telephone line
But when the boys start playin' that bird don't sing
He just listens real close to everything
Bonafide blues guitar

Used to be a man could make a buck
At the old road house playin' this stuff
But nowadays folks seem to just stand pat
When the time comes round to pass the hat

There must be something about the air down here
Makes it sound so down home to the ear
Got a down home feel and a back porch sound
That music sprang up right out of the ground
That's some bonafide blues guitar you're playin'
Got a down home feel, bonafide blues guitar
That's some southern-fried cookin'
Bonafide blues guitar
