Trying to Remember a Dream

Now

These tunes were recorded, mixed, and mastered at my home studio in Escondido, California during 2003 - 2006. This time the recording process was pretty much a solitary undertaking. I played all of the guitar and bass parts and sang the lead and backup vocals. You'll hear extensive use of drum and percussion loops and a few piano, vocal, and pedal steel loops for variety.

I'm a big believer in writing and rewriting songs before I record them. I like to write something, forget about it for a while and then come back later to get a fresh perspective. The Middle Class White Boy Blues is a re-write of a song from the mid-1980's. I've gotten a lot of mileage out of that one in my live performances over the years. Gainesville Girl and The King are also re-writes of old songs.

The title of this collection of tunes, Road To Now seemed appropriate given that these songs recount experiences that span my entire life. Musicians and songwriters always think that the last thing they did was their best. I guess I'm no different but you'll have to be the judge.
